National Inventor of the Year Award
The
Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation has announced its call for applications for its National Inventor of the Year Award.
The competition includes an award for Youth Inventor of the Year (and Industrial Design Inventor of the Year). All in all, there are many opportunities to be recognized for all of your hard work and dedication to innovation!
Is "Innovation" Meaningless?
The proliferation of "innovation" as a business trend has
not translated to profits for many major business players. That is not to say that innovation is an inappropriate business focus, just one that might be misunderstood. One of the difficu
lties with innovation is that it is highly ambiguous. In addition, the step from lab to market is highly uncertain. Combined, the ambiguity and uncertainty make ROI (returns on innovation) difficult to predict. Thus, when using it as a strategy (or a buzzword), companies must recognize that innovation can be a double-edged sword.
Big Plans
Given that this blog is not as frequently updated as I would like (for one, because I maintain three blogs), I have decided to consolidate this blog with my Innovators' Hub blog. In addition, I hope to extend the focus of this blog more broadly to entrepreneurship, innovation, and cool technologies.
What does this mean?
1. More frequent posts.
2. More than just occasional postings about business advice. Why? Because I think that innovators and entrepreneurs benefit from a more diverse base of knowledge (including information about trends and policies that may influence the future of business - and the world).
I always welcome thoughts and suggestions, so please post them here (or
drop me a note).
